Changes we have made in our opening sequence

Whilst filming our opening sequence we discovered it was quite hard to follow our story board exactly, so we made a few changes to improve it. One of these changes was where one of the actors that we used found it hard to keep completely still when breathing, this meant that her chest moved up and down a lot which would contradict our original plan of her being dead, because of this we have decided to have her lying against the tree unconscious, this enabled us to use most of the footage that we wanted to use before we realised how much she was moving.
Another change we have made is where one of the actors (Justin) walking round the car at the beginning of the film instead of just a shot of the door closing, we did this because we thought it would look more mysterious if we saw that it was a man but we didn't know who it was exactly. Including this shot also gave us the opportunity to include our subtitles for our actors names.
The next change that we have made is the radio recording playing when both actors get into the car. This is of a man speaking as if it was the news being read on the radio, this allowed us to inform the viewers of the story line and what had previously happened.
Another change that we have made is cutting out the the close up shot of Justin grabbing Maddie's hand as we thought that if we had included it the scene would have been too jumpy between cuts and would not have looked as dramatic, we wanted to stick to the idea of having a mysterious look so if we had too many cuts it would not have been smooth enough which would have cut the amount of suspense that we were trying to build.
The next change we made was where we cut the shot of Justin's feet stepping out of the car as when filming we thought it was impractical and we would have had to cross the 180 degree line rule. We also discovered that when filming his feet, it was too dark to really see what was happening and it wasn't clear enough so the shot would not have had the desired effect on the audience.
Another change we made was deciding not to include the shots from the inside the car from the front as well a close up shot of Justin looking suspicious leaning on his hand inside of the car, this was because we did not want the audience to see Justin's face as we wanted to keep a level of mystery to his character. We thought that if we kept his identity hidden in this scene it would make the whole thing seem more dramatic and when he begins to drag Maddie away it would be a little more scary.
The next change that we made was removing the kitchen shot with Justin and Millie in to a shot of Maddie and Justin watching a news report in their living room. We did this because we wanted to begin our film by telling the audience a girl had been murdered, this would set the scene for the rest of the movie and it related to the previous scene where another girl was found by Maddie and Justin. We thought that because we obviously didn't want the audience to know that Justin was the killer right from the beginning we should have a shot that showed him and his girlfriend doing what they would normally do on a day to day basis.
